No Seal of Approval

IMG_5962

This week’s photo, taken December 11, 2015 from the pier in Edmonds, WA, features a BRANDT’S CORMORANT that just played a practical joke on a HARBOR SEAL.

The HARBOR SEAL didn’t see it coming. A BRANDT’S CORMORANT snuck up behind the seal and gave it a friendly little poke in the rear with its long bill. The startled seal spun around to let the cormorant know that it didn’t find that poke funny. On the other hand, the cormorant and I did find it rather amusing.

funny and good photo of them so close together I just got back from Bethesda MD for 3 weeks for the birth of my grandson. Every morning I was entertained by many birds in their bird bath and feeder. The cardinals and robins were good at sharing the bird bath. They didn’t like the squirrels getting a drink, though. The hawks are bigger than ours and the birds do not hide like they do here. I even saw one dumb bird land on the branch Mr Hawk was sitting on !!
